FRANCE – CBEM
Biomass cogeneration

CBEM (Cogeneration Biomasse d’Estrée-Mons) is a biomass cogeneration plant with a capacity of 13 MW electrical and 24 MW thermal, located in Estrée-Mons in the department of the Somme (in northern France). The plant produces more than 105’000 MWh of electricity and 80’000 MWh of renewable thermal energy each year.

The plant has been awarded a 20-year power purchase agreement with EDF after CRE3 tender (tender launched by the French Energy Commission).

The thermal energy produced is sold to Bonduelle, which operates Europe’s largest vegetable processing plant at this location, via à long-term steam purchase agreement.

CBEM is operated and supplied with fuel by the company PBE (Picardie Biomasse Energie) located near the plant. PBE has an extremely strict environmental charter and ensures the supply of a sustainable wood resource.
